I've never heard anyone say a jeans but I'm convinced I once heard in Seinfeld or some other American show 'a scissors' or possibly 'a scissor'

I’ve heard “a scissors” but would never say it.

Chris, thanks for reminding me of “ELL” as a unit of measurement. It led me (in a very round about way) to Gwain and the Green Knight who had an axe blade the size of an “ell”…
