I came to this late, very nice puzzle.
I just have one cell to fill/one clue to parse.
37d Grey country girl leaving lively dance. (4)
It's possible the answer has five letters as I am missing one letter to make my poet.
Any help appreciated.
Lumen, the clue answer did have five letters. Lose the three letter word for a 'country girl' from the start of a dance, a very old one. You'll be left with Grey, before you lose a letter (and remembering all grid entries are real words...
Thanks. I have the dance now.
Not sure why that girl is country? Maybe Chambers says so.
I'm not with my Chambers so can't check - or the definition, which I don't know of, but can see online.
All done.
