What a beautiful puzzle! And by a cousin too. Thanks, Hedge-sparrow.

Yes, lots of thematic material and some tricky clues - and all very neatly done (I think).

I've got the 2 names and the connection, but still have some blank cells in the SE corner, so can't make anything fit into the unclued entry. Looks like I have some errors. The letter count would be a help if not too much of a spoiler.

NNI, as you have the connection, use that (ie treat it as a crossword clue) for the unclued entry. It's very logical!

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you, Hedge-sparrow. And only a utterly unreconstructed old curmudgeon (ie me) would quibble about the use of “discovered” in 23. 1a (past tense) would be more accurate.

Lagging behind as usual…please can someone help me with 32a: strangely, this man Mr Nosy could be my other son (4). I have T?LO.
And 13a: Saint and sinner avoiding secret places. (6). I have ST???S

Hi, jogamel.

13 The two letter abbreviation for Saint, a word in the clue, then 'sinner avoiding secret' gives you the last letter. Places, verb.... (You just need the 'word in the clue'!)

32 Your L is wrong. The answer is one of those subtractive anagram thingies...

Thanks, Malone. All my crossers were correct. I had thought the entry would be in that direction, but didn't follow it up.

Rather enjoyed this, thanks Hedge-sparrow. Struggled with parsing a few but, once I did, they were all v. fair.

Nice theme and the 15 letter name lived just up the hill from here (been in there a few times) and is commemorated with a statue outside a venue not far away.
