Thank you muraria and Malone. I had just about got there. Struggling with one or two more clues before I can get to your stage of completion though. I just can’t see anything in 2d, so please nudge! Ionian institute of actuaries to carry on virtually (6) I have I ???I? Also 4: pope falls when looking up (3) I have NO?

2d is 2-letter abb. for Institute of Actuaries then first 4 letters of a synonym for to carry on or endure.
4d , your o is wrong. First letter of def. "pope" changes

I'm being rather dense here. I am struggling with the first 5 misprints, where I have them, but can't extract meaning. The other 9 are fine. Also struggling with 9 and 18 where I have all the checking letters. We are operating well outside my specialist subject, alas.

Cockie, the first five letters aren't a word... think abbreviations, common in crosswords, joined together to make something meaningful.

Evidently I have (at least) one of the 5 wrong. I think 18 is where the problem lies.

24a - Can I just check that the 3rd letter in "done" changes, only the previous all look like numerals?
