Missed out another word for "lover", again dubious imo.

We think it is CH for Chinese then letters of each and ny. The revolutionary is the anagram indicator. Don't think each suggests 'a'?

Thanks Quocunque. Got 4d now. Considered first part but failed to see the definition.

Snowwhite, that’s an intriguing idea, but I think the “for” rather gets in the way.

“a” can mean “for each” in the sense of “two a penny”.

Even later than usual starting this week and took a while to get on Brockwell's wavelength.

I had an answer for 3d (a new word to me, but it must be wrong), so I'll have to think again). I don't have 19 yet.

I don't understand 8ac. I can't remember seeing X-Man before, so no idea what it means. I have a criminal, but it doesn't parse.

I'll go away and think.

Hi Roof,

3d - anagram/'off' of "stallion stripped" - definition is the name of a book by 19d

19d - 1 letter "very" + 2 letter "fine" + 4 letter "port" (I think it's in Scotland) all reversed/'served up' (so 'very' would be the last letter)

8a - Nothing to do with films. 1 letter "following" + 4 letter "X-man (X used to be called something else) - definition is "criminal"

Hi Roof. Your criminal is probably right. Think one letter following plus a man associated with X that wouldn't have worked as a clue this time last year.

The girl from 19 is obvious when you get it. Think author.

Ok I have finished (with a little help from Google) but I had never heard of 12, 14 and 20 AC.
Also I would appreciate some help with the parsing of 14ac and 24 AC where I don't see what first rate has to do with it.
