Had to check my phone to make sure it wasn't Monday! As ever with this setter without the huge grids and daft complex instructions the cluing is frankly prosaic.

Adelaide also has one but those two are not districts, they are integral parts of the name of the venue. The clue infers a district.

I had no idea of the correct theme until I had completed the grid. I was led astray by Slade and Newmarket .

I decided 13 d was the site of the Oval.
My cockney gt. grandfather owned a pub in that district
"the Cock Tavern" which my husband and I decided to visit, only to find it was , and still is, a gay bar. We left hastily!

I usually love Maskarade’s complex crosswords that keep me going all weekend (and often into the next week) so I was a bit disappointed that this one was so easy. I think all the effort went into fitting in all the themed answers (which I spotted fairly early despite not really following it) and little into the clueing!

I agree that the ‘district’ and italicised ‘this’ lead to the one in London with the Oval for 13. My COD was actually 19 due to the clever redirect.

@Jazz, I see your parsing of last week’s HAVEN has been universally accepted over on 225 even though the blogger failed, just as many of us did at first :-)

Jono, I spotted your comments also . I was surprised the blogger failed to see it .
