Rocky, 19d is an anagram and doesn't refer to other clues.

I should add that I didn't spot the theme so it is solvable without knowing. But yes non UK solvers may struggle with two or three clues.

Wow, dopey me. Finally see the theme, though in my defence it's less obvious to those outside the UK.

geeker - I’d say less obvious to those outside the Commonwealth, but otherwise yes, exactly. But as Rocky7 says, it’s perfectly solvable without any knowledge of the theme, and as Brendan says, there’s the additional fun for those in the know of finding all the thematic answers (and I’m not even a fan of the theme!)

19 is an anagram of two referenced solutions. "Card" in an occult sense, say.

OK so I think it is one not from a traditional pack but another kind.
