I too found it easy. I have just one query that I am surprised no one has raised. 1A: Two possible interpretations of clue; which is the correct second letter?

Hi Jaffra, I think it’s reasonable to assume that “we’re told” applies to what goes immediately before it (I.e. information). So in this case the definition is what the angler hopes for…

You could also apply the rule of thumb that the definition is at the start or the end of a cryptic clue. "we're told" isn't the definition so ...

I’ve been beaten by 3a, 13a and 7d.

This was on the breezier side of Everyman, for which I'm grateful given I only managed to finish yesterday's prize with a great deal of effort.

Agree with all who said it that COD is the wonderful 18d. Got a real smile out of me when I worked it out.

7d. A word for blueprint with the “first of specs” (one letter) removed gives a word for condescend

Hi druh. Assuming you got all but three of the clues, it sounds like you’re starting to get the hang of cryptics. Well done! I remember when I was starting to do them how frustrating it was at times. Also, good to see you here again, haven’t seen you for a while.
