granama1

I have a full grid and a reasonably firm idea of the type of thing the wordplay the extra words refer to but struggling with untangling the rest of the extra words.

A hint on whether the first word refers to an actual or general one and whether the last refers to a person or an implement might break the deadlock!

Thanks. đź‘Ť

If you’re referring to the five extra words in the clues, the first refers to an actual one, and the last to a person

If it’s any help, I worked it out by taking a stab at the 64-cell symmetrical shape and writing down the letters that appeared in it

A single letter in the group helps with the former (another singleton helps with the latter).

Thanks both. I'll have a grid stare when I get home for lunch.

I'm at granama1's stage - have been since yesterday afternoon, but Azed and IQ have intervened. I have the 15 letters, so I'm assuming that each appears once in the 15-letter symbol. I think I've found 3, perhaps 4, of the extra words, but they make no sense as a cryptic clue.

Cockie, I'm assuming that the second word relates to the shape of the symbol and, possibly, the second word of the 15 letter two. May well be wrong though.

Granama1, that’s correct. Cockie, the words of the clue in order are noun, adverb, preposition, possessive, noun.

Sorry, adjective not adverb
