paul@12, bacchanal@21

I need a parse of drag, please. Hope it's not so obvious as to embarrass me.

if I may- not in Chambers. oddly, but Collins has drag = "mainly US slang: a street or road ". We would call the main street in a city "the main drag".

sorry its under "main" in Chambers: "main drag (informal, chiefly US) the main street of a town"

Yeah, "the main drag" a phrase (dated now?) for something akin to the high street.

Thanks for your entries.
Very difficult, as so often, to select just one winner. I tend to shy away from references I consider too obscure and I discounted clues containing 'high' and 'way'.
From a short list of six I liked mattrom@15@ continuing her homophone streak, jono@2 and paul@13 with their natural surfaces.

Bronze goes to buddy@9 confounding my thought that HIGHWAY is impervious to decent anagrams: Why Haig hit the road?(7).

Silver goes to jono @16: Drunk, weave from side to side, when driving back on Route 66? (7)

Gold, by a whisker, goes to bigbadmarty2 @28 starting with a neat and misleading juxtaposition:
Street robbers taking people out (7)

Well done, bigbadmarty2. Surprisingly enough your prize was never going to be AC/DC, which you can have from geeker@4 anyway. I hope you like beautifully sung church music.

jono, it's a coincidental echo of today's discussion in Pedants United.
