Speedy Tesla gets on Route 66, perhaps? That the way things go (7)

Composite anagram; (T GETS ON HIGHWAY)* = THE WAY THINGS GO. Speedy, nimble, zippy is the anagrind.

Substitute your favorite highway for Route 66, but that highway's the best.

Fun fact: Route 66, which is now Watson Road as it runs through St. Louis, is a mile or so south of my house. Still a vanishing few vestiges of the old Route there.
