I've just finished an Inspector Morse novel where he rushes home to catch the omnibus edition of "The Archers". I found that impossible to believe of the character. I have never understood the enthusiasm for this kind of tosh, which also infests our TV screens.

As an American, I have never had the pleasure of watching any of the shows that are frequently referenced in the themed puzzles (no more "Coronation Street", please). However, I have worked enough them over the years that when I finished this one my honest reaction was, well, at least it wasn't "Dad's Army" again.

(not to imply that American TV isn't full of tosh, because it is.)
