Geeker 31; For the sake of good taste I'm glad the fodder contained 2 "g"s and not an "f" and a "g"...

Thanks all. A great turnout for this one. Good to see Dorrien back and a welcome appearance from Ginge. It occurred to me that we haven’t seen Fiery or Marty recently… I hope they are well.

Almost impossible pick a winner from such a broad range of clues. Enjoyed the many cultural references from “Its a Wonderful Life” to Curtis Sliwa, Barachiel and Araucaria (see clip two).

Honourable mentions go to…
Mattrom@15’s Scotsman Ian.
Darla@19 for LaGuardia.
Geeker’s Irish nun in trouble with the Gardai and his Danubian gargoyle @26.
Paul@23 - nice to see “selflessly” getting an outing, I can’t recall who came up with that, but it wasn’t me.
Dorrien@24 I didn’t know an Angel was an old English coin, thanks for that.
Jimmy@27 for reminding me of that Fast Show character. I watched a couple of YouTube clips when I saw your clue.

After some deliberation my top three were …
Ginge@6 for spotting the hidden DIANA and making the reference to the Greek hunter rather than the perhaps more obvious recent princess.
Paul@12 for “organ donor”, clever.
PaulH@8’s football inspired surface, very nice.

The prize goes to [/]Paul@12 for his succinct wordplay and smooth surface…

Organ donor might save your life (8,5)

The prizes relate to the paper. I was surprised not to have seen the second one before, but perhaps I missed it at the time…

The Manchester Guardian…

Cheers all
