Just to clarify, I meant the first 3 letters of my original incorrect answer give a name for God when returned - I don't want to confuse anyone:-)

Thank you! How embarrassing. I wrote out the clues in length order on my notebook and crossed off the wrong one. Then took a break. Still, how I managed to not notice I’d already answered that clue is beyond me! Thanks again x

I cannot parse the answer to 'Beginning to go, brush animals behind'. unless I have made a complete soup of the answer I get *X*a*l . I can see that the last four letters are a synonym for 'brush' but I cannot parse the first two obvious letters.

"brush" is F?x?a?l, with the beginning to go, ie delete the first letter.

What you have is correct but it’s a 7 letter word minus the ‘f’irst letter

None of those letters match my (tentative) solution. One of us must be very wrong!
