Hi izzy, it's a homophone. Fancy is the definition, as in to imagine or suppose something.

its ok I got it!!! The crosser at the top I had as a 'e' from my incorrect 'ensuite' . Finished! Found it hard in parts evidently! Cheers!

Hi all. Late to this but, like others, I found it a mix of easy and tricky.
Nicoladawn's hint (#19) got me over a hump.

Enjoyed it overall, thanks Everyman, but COD was the entertaining 6D.

Actually yes, barry, I agree re 6d. I had initially put 23a as my COD, but once the penny had dropped re the parsing of 6d, I have to admit, it was a brilliant, and funny, clue!
