Sorry. I see Mattrom has already dealt with this.

i can't bring myself actually write in 26a - it would have got a big cross when i was teaching chemistry!
some doubtful wordplay - 11a, 3d, 15d, and 25d; word order seems a bit off in the last.
favourite the uxbridge english dictionary entry....

i missed lucertola's explanation of 15d. i withdraw my quibble with that one.

25d is all in reverse, so it parses 1,1,3 reading from the bottom.

3d “collecting in” is a bit odd. I suppose you can read it equally as A collects in B, or B collects in A.

he seems to have used the same 4 letter word tomean two entirely different things, both very loosely

Enjoyed this. Some slightly dubious definitions but all fair. Rattled through three quarters and then got stuck for about an hour in the SW. Despite the hints on here 15d took me ages to figure out.

Think 20d my COD but like geeker never was convinced by merits of the King though not entirely his own doing I feel.

John Stones, but assume the answer is nothing to do with him or football. If it is I'm in trouble. I assume the definition is unsettled, but perhaps someone can put me right if I've got it wrong. My left hand side is very empty, so I need to go away and work on some more. I keep falling asleep in the sun.
