Hi all. Puzzled by 1d: Tension relaxer produced by CID employee cut by criminal teen. I have D?T?N?T? so I guess the answer must be detente (tension relaxer). That would make "DTE" the CID employee though...maybe it's a civillian job within CID? Googling just gives me general police job application websites!

Maybe it's DET for detective followed by an anagram of teen?

Possibly, ta! I think though, that if that is the case, the "cut" is a bit odd? I read "cut" as meaning the criminal teen is "cutting" - i.e. in the middle of - the CID employee.
