Finally completed. It would have been somewhat easier if I had read the instructions carefully and looked at the extra letters in alphabetic order of down answers instead of alphabetic order of down clues (incidentally that did give me real words at least to start with)!

This was a super puzzle. Thank you.

I got hung up on the “Anger” clue, for some reason forgetting that I had to omit a letter from the word play (doubly idiotic of me because I knew what the letter had to be to complete the fourth word). Picked up again after a walk this afternoon and it all fell into place.

Perhaps you've misread the clue? - ''one's'' (not 'ones') parts the longer abbrev for 'ante' and the letters for America.

This was a really enjoyable stretch, but I had to give up. I am due to go on the 'Game of Thrones' tour in Northern Ireland and need to binge watch past episodes so I do not disgrace myself on the quiz on the coach.

I hope that I do no disgrace myself here when I make the following comment. Having looked at the solution it seems to me that the down clues beginning Scoundrel and Stiffly may have been printed in the wrong order.
Am I wrong?

Also can anyone help me to parse the across clue beginning Duties.

Finally a minor gripe. I worked in the coal industry for 18 years and did not encounter the term used: I spent a long time playing with collier, deputy and overman! My fault.

Clues in the right order williamseal, don't forget the blank cells.

Duties... is reverse hidden.

Lovely puzzle, thank you Tringa.

Long after everyone has no doubt showered and gone home I am still
struggling with that 'Duties' clue, for which I have the unlikely letters
ENDE?U, the U being the fourth of my thematic gap-fillers.

Also the preceding 'Fringes' clue where I have the equally unhelpful
I?ANNI. Otherwise my grid is complete and seems convincing, including the symbol, which I have positioned one column to left of centre.

Would live to finish before 4771 turns up so any hint welcome!
