Well, I agree with your thoughts but I am afraid the answer has to be rotate to fit in with the crosser at 1d which you will discover . All the unclueds are written in reverse . I found this cheesecracker fun. By rhe way, synonyms not mentioned in the preamble 🤔

PS I too didn't enjoy the Spectator puzzle, I felt it was just too flabby (and also a bit humdrum really).

Hi, Shooty. I don't think Klazo buys or subscribes to Private Eye, but he accesses the puzzle... maybe a day after publication. I don't know how he does this, maybe through Press Reader? I hope he returns to this thread and I can interrogate... sorry, ask him

Klazo, thanks. It's a pity the Eye offer was just an introductory thing. I don't think there is a link to the puzzle, but I might explore later.

The good news is that it is definitely Thursday today - oh, and also that the Spectator puzzle is a good 'un.
