Please could I have help with the wordplay/omission for 25d and 28d. I have the answers.
Like others, the down extra letters don’t seem very relevant. I have a set of five of one type.
For the across members, are they all horizontal and vertical, or can they be diagonal?. I’ve only found one so far

I havent yet managed to find the 14 cells - so far i have 3,3,4 - is there another or is there some crossing involved?

I also havent found the third group of the downs - but first things first!

dylan - re the across, i found a diagonal (although i havent found 14 cells so could be a trap i have fallen into)!

25d and 28d the omission is across two words (and when you remove the two remaining parts go together to form one word). They are in the same group.

dylan - also i havent found any missing letters in the downs - and if you have 5 of one group you can probably guess what one of the other groups is. i am still struggling with the third.

re 22 that should read is there another 4 or is there some crossing involved.

andyp - don’t want to give too much away but there aren’t many options. Suggest you check alternative spellings though

This is obviously one of those puzzles that some people have solved over their cornflakes (or porridge). I look forward to tackling what is presumably a gentle ride but at the moment am more preoccupied with trying to get a tan. It's not really crossword weather this weekend.

thanks cd - id missed arguably the most commonly used member of the across group, crossword-wise - somehow it didnt come up in my initial googling

I am still stuck on the third down group - looking at lists in brb has been mentioned, but am i right in thinking said lists wouldnt be on the app?

As far as I know the relevant info in the BRB is not in the app, no. Although happy to be corrected if anyone knows how to access this info in the app.

Am concerned my Chambers Dictionary may not be up to the job (I have 1990 Edition). Preamble refers to a 2016 version, but I can find nothing available since 13th Edition from 2014 - am I missing something? TIA
