Cockie, I don't have a full grid yet, still trying to parse 6d. But Google "adjective1 adjective2 year", quotes included, and you'll see why 1800 is relevant.
Yes, lalthough I thought this was a good challenge (thaks PINK!) I was left feeling a little underwhelmed.
I presume the first adjective refers to the down clues, the second to the across? And is that why 15D (and 10D) do not fit the pattern of the other down clues?
Lumen. 8D, is made up of a couple of final letters, a 2 letter Latin abbrev, for 'this year' and 1 letter for won. With the thematic letter added you might hear this at a rodeo.
8a is a sort of architectural thing made up of the usual 1 letter tablet (tab) and 'permits' all backwards.
Thanks granama, got those. Just the first cell of 12a left now.
Can't say I've enjoyed this one. Listener much better this week, unusually.
Maybe I've failed to fully understand it.
Other things got in the way, so this was on the do later pile for a few days. (Thematically, maybe I should have waited N more days…) Thank you, Pink; I enjoyed the links to the milestone number.
