To viewers of football on the BBC some of the answers seem pertinent to the current situation - coincidence?
eg 6a, 11a, 18d, 19d (hope not).

Agree with the consensus that this was a bit tougher than usual, although I spotted the device in 9 right away. It was only two weeks ago that it appeared in Everyman. Also, I feel like I remember that use of "decreases" in some puzzle recently. Might not have been Everyman. I wanted to give a shoutout for my COD, 24. Just brilliant. "Cloud storage." I love it.

Bowergirl ... Ahh given, Jono's explanation, it turns out I did have it right first time around! But I thought curtailed was indicating something different, which messed up the parsing.

Swap the penultimate letter for a t and you'll see what I ended up with.

Phil10000 - re your earlier comment about 8d, surely the definition is the last word (as a verb) - so it is plural ...

That's interesting Phil - I had never heard of the word that you first ended up with, and had to google it!

Hi Prospero - Yep, but I think it's a dual definition, with flowery language being the other one. Of course it still works even then, but it strikes me as quite a stretch.
