Not intentionally!

Thanks for all your entries and for making it such a strong field. As usual the task of picking a winner is extremely difficult. There was a great mix of word plays including double definitions, anagrams, inclusions, homophones and acronyms etc. Thanks Jono for the lesson in Scottish vocabulary and MPRS I share your opinion of the AMC Pacer – I actually owned one in the mid 70’s.
I was surprised that there was only one entry for CAPERS (Jono.champers); scrape was an obvious anagram. I liked both the Batman clues.
My shortlist is Mattrom #4, MPRS #23 ( the topical drag reference), Aristo #19 ( I think cut up worked), Jono #22 (Smile), Paul #16, and Buddy #5 (I hope not).

Bronze goes to Aristo
Cut up and put a lid on with herb inside (5)
Silver to Paul
For a prank, Batman put one on Robin initially (5)
Gold to Jono
First cheeky monkey to run monkey business (5)

Slight question mark over the equivalence of monkeys and apes :)
(I suppose you could argue that apes (and humans) are monkeys, but monkeys aren't apes....)

I had a similar thought Chris, but to monkey (verb) is to ape, as in mimic, so I can just about get with that one I think.

You can probably tell me I was wrong to associate capers with hops botanically though …
