This is a weird one, as the clues were generally a bit better than usual (mostly in terms of the surface reading) but several were poorly constructed. My biggest issue is that the definition for 22a is incorrect, as the word has a far different mathematical meaning than "whole number".

The “?” suggests (perhaps) this is not the strict mathematical definition. Chambers has “entire, whole, not involving fractions”

Enjoyable one but I agree with everyone else re 3d. It seems to be only half a clue, with the beginning part (the definition) missing.

COD 16d. Also thought 6d very skilfully done!

Morning all.
I also found it was remarkably easy today, and agree with some of the comments.
Enjoyable, though, with a few that made me smile, such as 1A, though I’m not a fan of the related film.
And does Brendan no longer post here?

I found almost all of the puzzle extremely easy.
I was nearing the elusive "complete write-in", kind of a holy grail that I've never accomplished before, but stalled out on three clues in the NE corner. Got them after a few minutes, but they extended solving time past the Everyman norm.
Thanks to Everyman, quite a few good clues. COD definitely 6 over 7, 8 and 10. FOI 1a, LOI 4.
I agree with those who question 3. I wrote in the solution, but thought it dubious and was surprised it held up.

Brendan still posts here. He started the Guardian Prize thread Friday night (US time) and is active on the barred puzzle threads. I believe he stopped opening Everyman threads a few months ago. Probably giving other solvers the opportunity to chime in.

Made steady progess but 15a,18a and 14d took a bit of getting. The grid made it like four seperate crosswords.

Yes, not completely happy with 22a, but as Jono observed it seems the ? is supposed to make it ok. If so, barely. A whole number is an _______ with the "er"ending, and we do occasionally use the adjective form in math(s).

I took 3d to be &lit.

Hmm not proving as easy as usual of late. All done pretty quickly bar three in the NE corner. Not seeing anything for 4a or 5d and got a possible answer for "journalist" for 7d but doesn't make sense with the rest of the clue. Getting late though so another scratch this weekend.

I wasn't impressed by the clues for 4a or 5d. The former is a type of coastal feature that vaguely also means "has secret thoughts". I've mentioned 5d earlier.
7d doesn't mean "journalist", though the standard abbreviation finishes it.

A bit late, but I have had some problems, including a drain blockage over the weekend.

Fairly easy. I agree with the criticisms of some of the definitions. But my query relates to 8D. Is there such a word? It is not in any of my dictionaries, including Chambers.

However, my main reason for posting relates to last week's. I got 24A from the crossers, without parsing it until I looked at the Forum. My problem is the printing, very small and faint. I am awaiting a cataract op, and find small print very difficult. In this instance, I could not recognise the punctuation marks, which were the actual definition, without a magnifying glass. Actually, any list, separated in that way, could have been used, although I suppose using the Henrys is clever, a misleading diversion.
