21d the "pastry" is a dish, which could be sweet or savoury. Not a familiar word, but it parses clearly.
26 parses 1,2,6, though the 1 and 2 are reversed in the wordplay. Def. "cramp".

Thanks Brendan and ChrisE. I was struck on fool's gold. Got it in the end. Picaroon is always welcome breezy but seldom a breeze. Liked 1a because that's where I live. Never used the expression but it rang a bell. Anything to do with Don Juan down the well?

Hi Everyone

After last week's breeze, I haven't got a single one. I don't like Picaroon; I'm simply not on on his/her wave length. I've now read the thread and am ready for a second go.

I am getting worse at these crosswords and may have to give up altogether soon.

I may or may not be back

Just 21d and 27a to get. Given the last clue word the last word of 27 is obvious. But it might be an expression I don't know.

Like many 21d is not showing itself.

21: defn. "Glass container", parses as 2 (firm) inside 4 (pastry). New word to me.
