and in 19 I may be being v stupid but I can't see that a word meaning "more dreadful" gives us a state of inebriation ....

19 is an anagram

Thanks quisling. I guessed the across entry method from the start as no answer lengths are given and I assumed the entries would all be real words but still really enjoyed the challenge.

Finally got this over the line, the Irishman held out ‘til the very end! Have to admire the construction here, great fun, many thanks to Picaroon

As our regulars know, crosswords are a foreign language to me so I am reliant on emails letting me know about transgressions, in these cases I usually err on the side of caution and amend the posts accordingly😇
