I am in the really enjoyed it camp. I have a full grid, theme word, instruction, value for a and definition.
My only issue is when I apply the instruction to the grid I get a word for how to reapply the instruction but the final word appears slightly jumbled. I suspect I have a mistake in the order of values of c, d and e but can’t see how.
More worrying I feel I should have a 14 letter phrase to complete the definition but reapplying the instruction only gives me 12. Looks like I may have fallen at the last hurdle.

Smithsax - when reapplying do you get 12 of the 14 letters that you expect?

candledave, I get 12 of the 14, 2 and 12 missing - but it states that the whole definition is to be shown?

gitto - can you read the whole definition?

Thanks both. Got it now. Made the mistake of assuming I had to read the letters in the order I revealed them.

Stuck on 2d, probably being a div but any help much appreciated

Hi Ptobes, I'm nowhere near finished this but I think 2d is a word in the clue + "before" + 2 letter "before Christ" - the whole clue is the definition.
