Took a bit of working out. BIt early for this, but does anyone have a word at 8d only to be found in urban dictionaries and not in Chambers ? It seems a bit out of place.

No, 8d is in Chambers.

For me, this took more back engineering than clue solving. I also think that some of the misprints/definitions are rather tenuous as some of my entries aren't totally verified by Chambers, eg the cryptic indication in 24a or the definition in 3d. In general the misprints are rather cleverly disguised.

I didn't feel there was a problem with 24a, Gitto, but I agree with you about the 3d definition. That was the last clue I solved, although by then I had all the letters for the grid entry.

Does anyone else suspect that there's an unintended misprint in 30a? Shouldn't the 5th word be "tip" rather than "kip"?

30a is fine as it stands, will37. Look up the first two letters of your answer. It crops up occasionally

I have to admit that I'm not enjoying this one, but it's probably because I've had a rather bad week and my concentration is not what it usually is.

Would anyone be allowed to tell me if the original answers to the modified clues clash where they cross at all?
