Opportunity missed!

This was the most straightforward Prize puzzle I can remember. Completed it in one sitting in under half an hour - it seemed out of character for a Prize.

I concur with the "easy" consensus.
I'm from USA, no knowledge of the thematics, and the puzzle was still solidly less difficult than usual for a Prize.
The non-thematics went into the grid very rapidly.

I can't really parse 13A either thinking about it.

13a is a dd. Maybe an old fart memory, but think of Walter (later Wendy) Carlos. :-)

That's the answer I have, don't see what it has to do with Radio 4 though?

I think it's just an example. I'm not convinced, and it's a bit feeble if there isn't anything else.

Paradigmshifter, the way I parsed 3d, the note is just one letter.

Pretty sure it's 2 letters: 5 letter girls name (backwards) + 1 letter Southern + 2 letter note + 2 letter books
