Thanks Picaroon and Geeker, I found this one a slow burner but got there eventually.
FOI 12 and LOI 20 which I couldn't parse for ages. Thanks jono for confirming and as to your final comment @5 - strangely coincidental (given when Picaroon must have compiled this) the wording of clue for 19 and how a tweak to the clue for 13 could perhaps have involved the name of 'CR'.

rocky, 19 is a technical term, but the first word is common in English, includes the same Americanism as 20.

2d the first 2 letters are derived from the first 3 words, the rest of the clue is a definition of a musical term

11a another word for rubbish within a French word (article)

7d I think I have the answer but I haven’t included it as I can’t parse it myself

7d is a 2 letter abbrev for ‘papers’ inside (penned by) one letter from the clue and a 3 letter acronym for ‘military chief’

25a) The solution is a "musical style". Can't parse the answer, though.
First four letters could be sound of a horn, I suppose...
