Can anyone give me a nudge for 6d?

6 is a double definition, rather tricky. "Not everyone should hear this" and "song".

Hi All,

I found this week's Prize by Picaroon to be on the difficult side, with a lot of intricate parsing required for several clues.

Thank you to all those who said they appreciated my gentle hints, so, with that in mind ...

If you do get stuck there is an anagram in the acrosses.

FOI was 21a.

I still haven't fully parsed 10a and 19d but I'm happy with my answers.

I had no idea who "Darling's ally" was but the wordplay led to a particular character and Google did the rest.

COD - As is always the case with Picaroon, there are several contenders and I particularly liked 12a, 18a, 16d and 5a but my COD is the excellent 6d "Not everyone should hear this song" (5)

I also found this difficult, thanks to the reliable Picaroon for a challenge!
FOI 3. LOI 9 due to difficulty parsing (Google eventually required), though the solution seemed obvious.
Had trouble parsing several clues.
Will go with 7 as COD. Sign of a good puzzle: the COD candidate list was long. Also liked 11, 15, 25, 1d, 2, 24 and 27.

.... and I also get 19d - I was really over-complicating it!

Brendan, the first letter of 10 is an abbrev. for the 2nd word of the clue.
The other letters are "another..."

for some inexplicable reason I had the answer as the "car", so it's no wonder I couldn't justify the first letter - it was wrong! 🤬

What did you make of the juxtaposition of 19d and 20d (one part of clue and one answer)?

Brendan, it took me a really long time to notice a link between 19 and 20, and I'm not certain it's what you have in mind. I think coincidence, but it's been a long week and my mind is working slowly. 😁
