Please could someone tell me why requests for help on this thread always result in someone giving the complete answer?

The only other thread I use is the Everyman one, and people only give clues and hints on that, which is much more satisfying! I resist coming to the PE thread now, unless I'm completely desperate, as I don't really just want to be told the answer; I want to at least try and work it out in some way!

Is this thread the norm, and the Everyman one an anomaly??
