Hi Malone,

Yes, I did have my pens at the ready but, alas, they've not been used 😢

I have the instructions (iterates insinuate altitude and drench the lattice), but can't see how they apply to the grid and there's definitely no mention of a colour - although I can see one written in the NE going down.

Obviously I'm in a group of one so I know it's me being dense so I'll look at again today and hopefully I will have a Eureka moment:-)

Morning, Brendan. For the too long answers to fit their space, some would have to be placed on top of the others. One lot, the repeated set of letters, would sit on top of its twin. The other set would have each letter stacked ontop of another. This would mean that certain cells are higher than others (iterates....). These higher places would obviously be safer whent he drench comes...

The colour is just the usual for a Noah-type deluge.

Thanks Malone, I think I get it but ....

1n 13a I would be putting a repeat of 3 on top of its copy so that's 1 on 1 = a height of 2 but in 16d it would be 2 letters on their copy which = 2 on 1 = a height of 3

Are both these differing heights treated the same during the deluge?

Thanks, Brendan. Anything taller than normal level would be safe during the deluge, everything else wouldn't... and that's where your colouring-in would happen.

Thanks again, Brendan. Glad you got there - my 'help' is always well-intentioned, but not always useful!

No Malone, the fault is entirely mine, it was down to me being dense, well - denser than usual. I understood what was meant by 'plan view' (I almost became an architect) but I just could not equate it the deluge.

Brendan, I was surprised that the earlier hint hadn't helped you, I more or less just re-worded that - but it did the trick anyway! At one point, I was going to suggest that you stood up and looked down on the completed grid - unnecessary as you'd got the 'plan view' bit.

I'm late to this puzzle and appear to be stuck at the end. A first glance at the surviving letter groups gave me something involving Boris and lies! When that clearly wasn't going to work all that I can come up with is an Island in The Galapagos. Will that fit the theme?

Yes, Bobby, that sounds about right!
