Hmmm. I sort of see it. So the new first word would have a ? After it and the new third word isn’t really a word, spelling-wise? Clever if that’s it. Nice puzzle on the whole.
Thanks chrise, as usual!

Thanks jono and quisling. I see what you mean now, re 12a. But as it's only one letter, I'm not too concerned!

Ah, thanks Phil, you explain 12 very well. Now I understand what quisling meant by 'reverse' doing double duty! At least, I think I do!!

Loubyloo; re 1d. Think about it as the cheese course at a dinner, and what might follow after that!

Not sure what sort of clue you would call this though. Double definition? &lit??

Hello, it must have been easier than usual because I didn't have to cheat on here as to the answers (I think) but I don't understand what I take to be the answer to 19 across...there only seems to be one thing that fits and I don't understand the first word. Any hints? Thanks very much!

The first word parses 3,3. "I'm surprised", then "get into", referring to clothing.

Nice straightforward Everyman after yesterday's Herculean task (well for me anyway).

I'm convinced Everyman setters are on a mission to make the Spoonerism more corny each week. And the more contrived they get the funnier I find it. Hence COD definitely 8d for me.

I may be going blind or dotty but I can't see a rhyming pair let alone a rhyming triplet. The usual accent confusion doesn't seem to be present. Where are the rhymes?
