Enjoyable puzzle but another GWIT for the unclued? Unless there is any other logic than that indicated by the title. If so, my apologies.

Does anyone else think it odd that the word lengths for clues such as 35 or 27 are given as (3,4) or (4,3), whereas, until about 7 weeks ago, they would have been labelled (7, two words)? I wonder what prompted Doc to deviate from standard practice.

Will37, I am afraid I am very unobservant - I've never noticed which puzzles say (3,4) or (7, two words). I hope there's someone who can clear up the point for you.

The title is actually helpful -- my way in was the trio (there were three likely possibles and then there was something about them...)

For 37ac/17d I have ?ULL? S?C?ES? The latter can only be Success. I don't see a logical answer to the first word.
