rocky7@13, jono@14: About halfway through I thought the Grauniad editors might have mixed up this week's Prize and Everyman. But the bottom half was tougher and some typical Everyman features never appeared.

richardk@26: I often look for pangrams and have seen several other puzzles lacking only one letter.

I’m sure the “one letter short of a pangram” is done ‘cheekily’ to frustrate ‘pangram hunters’. I always enjoy the “Codeword” pangram puzzles, in fact I’m trying to complete the entire back catalogue. Always a good warm up for the cryptic ;-) Anyone else?

I've looked through the thread and don't see anything about 14a.

Clearly I've got the 'irish stew' and lots of 'i's in the word and found the only solution in Quick Solve but can someone please tell me how the 3 letter word in the middle of the stew relates to 'egg' in the clue?

Unless Quick Solve is missing the actual solution?

BTW Quick Solve is missing 'llaregub' from a few weeks ago, just remembered.

Still stuck on SW corner.

Thanks.

Aha, thank you jazzgirl, the egg of a louse!
Perhaps slightly too oblique for my early morning Canadian brain!

Started well, finished slowly, got stuck in the SW corner.

2 terrible puns today lol!! Those were the 2 I got very near the end.

Can't parse the first 2 letters of 25A I'm going the shop then I will read the rest of the thread.
