Thanks for your help, jadzua49. I now have over two-thirds of the answers, and yet I still can't fathom out how to enter them. I have tried anagrams, in alphabetical order, backwards, and in alphabetical order backwards! I shall keep at it though.

I have a word meaning "unoccupied" that can also mean "hungry" but I can't parse a single letter of it which makes me wonder if I've even got the right answer?

I have a Czech city but don't get the "service" part>

In 29a, the service is Her Majesty's fleet.
I'm down to my last, 27a. I'll wrestle with it a while longer, but what is the definition?
