10a - 3 letter "software" inside 5 letter "organised data".

23a - the "metal girders" aren't just the last word so you need to be careful.

Thanks Jono and Brendan. I'm wondering if one of my crossers is wrong. Because the software you speak of does not fit into any word that I can think of.

Rocky7 - the word in question at 10ac is rather unusual, to say the least. I don’t think I’ve ever used it.

So yes, 10a a word that I both didn't know and that isn't in a lot of dictionaries. Bit of a theme for me here.

Enjoyed today's challenge from Imogen. Steady progress before being held up in NW corner.
The article in 1a was new to me, as were the answers at 2 and 4 although both solvable from the wordplay.

Knew the themed characters - early evening viewing just before the news back in the early 70's - helped unlock NW corner.

But the second word is not the same as the last word of the clue: hmmm.

Stuck in the SW. Is the first word in 13d a palindrome? I found another 4 letter word that works better, but doesn't fit with 13a!
