your M is wrong in the 1st one ...usual abbrev for temperature + 4 letter synonym for raised...defn part of leg

Private Eye crossword 728; have completed it but am unable to 100% justify two of my answers hence this post

Got the Band OK but the wordplay is pretty obscure - if you can't explain without giving the answer away then I'll maybe just have to live with it; suffice to say "blacks out" and "indistinct" are not interchangeable - OK, so I'm a pedant!

First three letters correspond to the X in the clue, last two are the drugs; but what, if anything, do the middle four have to do with an FBI agent? I hope somebody can explain without spilling all the beans, thanks
