I'm very tired so will keep this brief (wild applause breaks out among Forum members)

As with most Everyman's there are a lot of anagrams, hiddens, initial letters etc to get you going but, this week, there are also some very difficult clues.

COD - 22d for the wonderfully misleading wordplay.

Thanks to Everyman.

Stay safe:-)

First time I have posted. I'm in Oz and have finished early! Still not sure about 5 down?

I think 5 has really complex parsing: 2 ("Everyman") surrounding (1,1) ("a", "knighthood"), followed by 2 ("subsequently") surrounding 1 ("initially dirty"). Took a long time to figure out!

Solid puzzle this week, thanks Everyman. Like Brendan, too tired to make many comments.
Wide range of clues, some really easy but several challenging. I rank it above median difficulty due to a few head-scratchers.
FOI 1a, LOI 9.
COD 19d. Agree with Brendan that 22 is good, also liked 15, 8d and 24.
A proper rhyming pair, which took me forever to locate.

Thanks Geeker. I had this as justification for my guess, but wasn't really convinced...

Hi all,
5d was my last one in and I needed all the crossers. I guess that means I didn’t like it.
I agree it was above normal difficulty and we ran across the second (rhyming) word in 20a somewhere recently. Remembering that helped immensely.
Still, it was all good fun.

Hi all, not posted here for a while - a mix of work, life and a holiday.

I also thought this was above average difficulty. Also took an age to parse 5d, I think it’s because of the misdirection around “subsequently” which yields two letters not one.

Smot, the second word in 20a (as a verb) relates to the ‘pen in protesters’ part of the clue. As Mystogre mentioned the same meaning cropped up recently in a midweek puzzle (Fed I think). I had the same instinct with the first letter of 3d!

Found this way beyond my pay grade and gave up with less than half solved . Used a solver to get the rest .
1d Never heard of him/her.
2d I have no idea how the answer is what it is .
18d Hard in my opinion .
19d I knew it was an anagram but when i found the answer, I can safely say I've never heard of it .

Well done anyone who solves this.
