I have no significant knowledge of the Beowulf epic, but it's an early childhood memory...parents were students and I recall the title on the spine of a book lying around the house. Later, Grendel by John Gardner was a popular novel in the '70s.

In the sport legend category, as a hockey enthusiast (and ex-player) I mourn the recent departures of Guy Lafleur and Mike Bossy.
