2d - 5 letter 'what Sheffield is famous for' around 2 letter Latin abbr. for "before food" - definition is "soothe"

23a - 7 letter "antagonistic" minus/'wanting' 3 letter "Scotsman's" name - definition is "neat".

I've completed both instructions but can't work out the "six thieves" reference?

I have filled the grid with what I hope are the correct solutions, but, probably because I am very much inclined to "bung in" the answers rather than properly parsing them, I am pretty hopeless at identifying the extra words.

As a result I am in need of a (fairly heavy) hint as to the six thieves.
Any chance ?

The "six thieves" are known collectively by the altered second row name
- after the second 4 word instruction
