I pulled a muscle at the base of my back last night and so have been laid up for the best part of a day. Thankfully, the pain has eased off in the last couple of hours:-)

27d - Double definition - for "mend" think 'socks' and then a mild expletive for "blast"

Brendan, i do hope your back is better soon. Mine took three days a couple of weeks ago, so I'm limiting my gardening to 30 min sessions.

Finally got around to working it online. Loved the puzzle. A lot of 17 clues with a fun theme. Tie for COD between 2d and 13a. Like geeker, I appreciated 3d but also had misgivings.

I suppose we're past the time of spoiler risk, so will add that 3 was a fine clue, but perhaps morbid and not in the best of taste.

Hi to all and thanks for all the hints. Have just completed but am not totally happy with the parsing of 22d but as I type the penny drops! As with many of you the FOI was 19a and 14a made me smile. Till next week cheers.

Hi everyone, came back to finish this morning but top left corner is still resisting me. Could I have a hint for 9a? I've lots of options for home of 19,17 but cannot see it.
