Have enjoyed the 50th anniversary article and this puzzle, as always. Astonishing achievement not to have missed a week. I’m not 50 till next month and I’ve definitely missed a few weeks along the way. What I really have always wanted to know is the correct pronunciation of this word I have only ever seen in print. Is it A-zed (as in the two letters) or Azed (as in dazed without the first d)?

It is the former...he is also known on occasion by the diminutive form 'AZ', pronounced similarly.
