I cannot parse 32 ac
Delight where penitents were found. All being knocked out (4)
The answer seems to end with EE - which points to an obvious solution. Is there a biblical reference somewhere. Any help appreciated

Is it Ali rather than All?

If it is, Googling the longer word with "penitents" will turn up something I didn't know!

I think it is Ali (as in boxer), and yes, Biblical. I've finished but cannot parse 10d or 21d (presuming I have entered the latter correctly).

Not precisely biblical, in fact - try the Google I suggested.

10d. is a word for 'yielding' (adj.) + I in an old word for 'fashion'
21d. def. is 'cutting off'. 'I' in a Scots word for 'fuel'. This was my last one in.

I was inspited to finish this week by the review in the Observer at the w/e - 50 years is astonishing. He has been compiling these for the whole of my life!
