Oh I just noticed the endings of the two long down clues are connected... not rhyming though and as someone said the other 2 do not make an appearance.

Enjoyable Everyman. Also took me a while to get going with FOI 24 and LOI 16 which only fell into place after 21 resolved itself. 14 was actually my COD. I don’t see the Le Carre reference though - a different author (Georges not John) is responsible surely?

The spy that came in from the cold is by John Le Carre according to google.

I missed that pun and was thinking of a Dean Martin song though ;)

I don't think it was a very good clue though (and 10A was a bit suspect as well I thought).

All the rest were good clues I thought.

8D is used in the UK as in I'll have a pint of ____

You are right, I was being stupid and got confused between 10 and 14. 10 was actually my COD. Doh!

Finished all bar 19d. Can't think of any word that fits in with any possible definitions.

Can anyone explain the Pope reference in 18a without giving too much away? Does it have a meaning I don't know about?
