PENDAS LITTLE COMP No 3
Welcome to the Math that is not Myth or Mess!!


1. There are 14 clues – length not stated.
2. The theme is in the title, so definitions are not always included.
3. The answers are in alphabetical order- one or two may have the first letter given.
4. When you have solved the clue and know its length, add to or subtract from the clue length as instructed.
5. Study the resultant column of figures to find a significant connection between the circus, a Greek character and cottages.

2. Lo Giant – somehow gives the answer.(-6)

I could be wrong, but I think we're not supposed to be giving our answers just yet... that's if this is following the same format as last week'spuzzle.

penda, the problem I'm having with your puzzle could be simply because you've mentioned maths and this is a word that tends to panic me. However, I have been staring at a column of numbers after solving (I think) all of the clues and following what I believe you mean regarding the +/- instructions in brackets - but I'm still not seeing any links or any pattern to the numbers.

So, would you please clarify a couple of issues I have with your instructions?

1. I don't understand what you mean by ''one or two may have the first letter given'' regarding the alphabetical ordering.
2. Having solved a clue I'm adding or subtracting the number in brackets from the answer's length, although I note you've written ''the clue length'' (if it is to be subtracted from all of the letters in the clue I can't see why it would be necessary to solve the clue and get the answer length - or is it the answer length +/- the number in brackets that's required?).

I'm sorry if this is just me being thick - numbers affect me strangely.

I figured out the column of numbers, very clever!

I've Googled the sequence and it looks like I've interpreted the instructions correctly.
