Thanks. The penny did drop for 18d, which gave me 25ac. So just 21 ac now. What is a speilogist?

I think I know the answer, but can't parse it fully.

It was obvious what a speilogist is from the answer I got. I didn't have chance to tell you as my husband had just put dinner on the table.

This means I have finished. I do like Paul, though he managed to sneak in words I'd never heard of in both the clues and answers. Some nice clues, though I couldn't parse a couple, e.g. 27ac and 22, 6 despite hint on this thread.

Finally took me until now to finish the NE corner. Thanks to all on here for helping me parse 9a and 5d.

Really enjoyed this crossword. COD for me 4d.

I am still struggling with three last clues despite the hints already listed,
5d, 9a and 15a. Further hints would be much appreciated, thanks

5D - God is Greek god of courage and war. Definition is last word only.

Came to this late as usual, I always miss the Saturday chat but am feeling very proud of myself for completing the grid all by myself for once. Barely even needed Google apart from confirming 5a. Came here for some parsing clarification, thanks all!

9a - 4 letter "score" as in 'make a notch or groove' + 3 letter "see" as in a city with a Bishop - definition is "in a good way"

15a - 3 letter "river" an actual one + rarely used word for "hang" around single letter "back of barge" - definition is "dredged"

5d - 4 letter "dropping" think 'manure' then 4 letter "God" around single letter "embarrassment initially" - definition is "trousers"
