Hi Malone,

Thanks and I can see that many have a 'skyish' theme and a few are in Chambers but several aren't, or at least I can't find them, and I've got lists of the 88 or however many there are on Google and several don't appear in any of them either! Where can I find a list contains them all?

Brendan, apologies first - I didn't mean 11 D (and I'm glad there isn't one). I meant to copy your wording of 11th column!

The very familiar phrase that goes before the long Down entry is the most helpful piece of information. If You have Bradford's, the rest will be relatively straightforward.

Thanks again Malone, I don't have a copy of Bradford's but I'm sure if I persevere I'll find them somewhere.

Thanks, Brendan, Your 'skyish' threw me. The unclued entry above 11 A is a useful one.. A few others are reasonably familiar, and the couple of odd ones are mentioned earlier in the thread.

Lovely puzzle which has just filled my afternoon. The extra letters slowly revealed a completely unambiguous theme.

I like to accompany my puzzling away from it all in my quiet room with either gentle classical or jazz music. Of late I seem to have abandoned my CDs in favour of YOUTUBE on the box, which appears to have just about every piece of music one could imagine (including actual concerts) as well as loads of themed compilations. The added advantages are soothing images on the screen and the use of the TV sound bar. The generally awful modern world does have its advantages!!

Finally finished this but only after making it infinitely more difficult than it needed to be. I looked up the first two words of the theme work and saw it was the name of a constellation, so I did this again with the word in row 1 and, unbelievably, another constellation!! What are the odds? Hence, I tied myself in knots trying to fit other non-existent ones in (Malone - hence "skyish").

Of course, those first two words were, as you'd expect and as Malone tried to tell me, an indicator and a category but I was just too far down the rabbit hole to see it 😫

Still, thanks to Nudd for an ultimately enjoyable puzzle:-)

Brendan, thanks for that - and glad you got there in the end. My mind leads me down some weird paths at times, so I am quite understanding of the same thing happening to others!

Most enjoyable and better constructed than the recent Spectator one which used the same theme. This required a certain kind of determination.
