I thought that had to be the case. Not easy to find the right layout, but if one starts by assuming they are all there the no-crossing rule helps in narrowing down the places where a few of them can be,

I need more help please. I have 2 options for 26d both starting 14 and 2 options for 35 with 2nd dgt 3 or 5. Can't resolve. Also I've 5 options for 23a starting 33 or 63 that I can't resolve. Can't get into that corner.

Ploughty, if you have 15D you know the last digit of 32D and that leads to only 1 possibility for 35A which resolves your options for 26D.

Origami complete and the requisite number of shapes identified. I found highlighting 22 squares in the grid on my spreadsheet made the end game a lot simpler than I had feared. The NW and SE corners of the puzzle had me going round in circles for hours and I found no other approach other than trial and error. All done now.

Ploughty, with ref to my previous post you need to look at the clue for 23A as well.

Thanks Gitto, but I'm none the wiser. 26d can end 25 or 63, giving different valid answers for 35a. 23a ends 5, but still there are 5 options starting 33 or 63

Ploughty, consider 23A in conjunction with 32D - it will not give you a full answer yet but it will give you a key digit to help unlock the SW corner.

Ploughty - to be more specific 26d does end in 63.

Thanks very much Panicea and Gitto. I have 1,4 or 5 for the 4th dgt of 23a, so maybe that will help me with 20d

1,4 or 5 is correct - as I mentioned earlier, solving the last dozen or so clues had me going round in circles for hours. I gave up yesterday and a fresh look this morning did the trick.

Thanks again to you both. I think I'm there now. Using the 1d 36a link was crucial. I ended up with 16=664. I hope that is right.
